The Medical Staff Association (MSA) for Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre (ARHCC) consists of all members of the medical staff at ARHCC.

According to the Fraser Health Medical Staff Bylaws, the ARHCC MSA has a duty to represent the medical staff, in general and as individuals, within ARHCC and to serve in a voting capacity on the Medical Advisory committee and subcommittee, in accordance with the terms of reference of these committees. Meet Your MSA Executive Team

Dr. Gaurav Bahl


Dr. Bahl is a radiation oncologist at BC Cancer Abbotsford and a clinical associate professor at the University of British Columbia.

Dr. Bahl is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed his clinical fellowship in radiation oncology at the University of Toronto after obtaining his medical degrees from the University of Mumbai and Nagour University. In 2017, he completed the Physician Leadership Program in Health/Health Care Administration/Management at the UBC Sauder School of Business.


President’s Role

  • Convene and chair all meetings of the general Medical Staff
  • Voting member of all committees of the Medical Staff of ARHCC
  • Receive information as deemed appropriate from the HAMAC, regional programs, the Board, the CEO, FHA or site senior management, the Program Medical Directors, the Regional Department Heads or others and disseminate this information to the Medical Staff and local community physicians
  • Communicate all recommendations and matters of concern from the Medical Staff to the Program Medical Directors, the Regional Department Heads and/or the VP Medicine, HAMAC, the Presidents’ Council (established under Article 7.8) and the FHA senior management as appropriate
  • Attend the Presidents’ Council
  • Represent the collective interests of Members
  • In the case of disciplinary action taken with respect to an individual member, inform that member of their rights under the FHA Bylaws.
  • The PES President presides at all meetings of the Society and of the Directors.

Dr. Bik Grewal

Vice President

Dr. Grewal is a community and hospital-based pediatrician in Abbotsford.

After obtaining a Bachelors of Science degree from UBC, Dr. Grewal attended the Medical University of the Americas. He furthered his pediatric training in Chicago and completed his residency at the Medical University of Mississippi. Dr. Grewal has also completed a 2-year fellowship in Nephrology at BC Children’s Hospital. Before starting his full-time position at ARHCC, Dr. Grewal worked as a Consultant Pediatrician at Peace Arch Hospital and Langley Memorial Hospital.


Vice President’s Role

  • In the absence of the President or inability of the President to perform the duties of that office, the Vice President shall assume all the duties and authorities of the President.
  • The PES Vice President must carry out the duties of the President during the President’s absence.

Dr. Hina Qamar

Secretary Treasurer

Dr Qamar is a fellow with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and American Board of Internal Medicine certified physician. She finished her internal medicine residency at the University of Alberta after completing her education at Baqai Medical University in Pakistan. She has completed a Diploma in Quality Improvement and has successfully led several QI projects at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her kids, travelling and shopping for shoes.


Secretary Treasurer’s Role

  • Give notice of and keep minutes of all meetings of the Medical Staff
  • Attend to all correspondence of the Medical Staff Association
  • Cause a financial statement of the Medical Staff Association funds to be prepared for presentation to the annual meeting, and ensure that an audit of the Medical Staff Association funds is conducted annually
  • Perform such other duties pertaining to the office of the Secretary-Treasurer as may be required, including assumption of the duties and authorities of the Vice President in the absence of the Vice President or inability of the Vice President to perform the duties of that office.
